The Big Picture

As a regulatory agency the NWCAA relies on federal, state, and local rules to control criteria and toxic air pollutants. But, there are other environmental concerns that cannot be solved by a regulatory approach.

Some emissions are not regulated such as carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, or diesel exhaust, a harmful mix of toxic pollutants, from vehicles. Also, there is no regulatory framework to address air pollution that crosses international boundaries.

The NWCAA promotes volunteerism, interagency collaboration, and creative enforcement solutions to bring about positive solutions for these and other issues.  The NWCAA has achieved a number of successes using these approaches. For more details please see what we are doing.
