An emission inventory is an estimate of air pollutants emitted from various activities. An emission inventory can be calculated for large industrial facilities, transportation sources, smaller commercial activities, and natural events such as wind blown dust and volcanic eruptions. An emission inventory may include criteria air pollutants (sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, fine particulate matter - PM 10 and PM 2.5) and lead, toxic pollutants such as benzene, mercury, ammonia, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and/or greenhouse gases.
The NWCAA prepares an annual emission inventory of criteria and toxic air pollutants for the larger point sources in its jurisdiction. These are the fifteen Title V Air Operating Permit sources plus one other large electrical power plant. The NWCAA requires each source to report certain process and emission information by April 15th for the previous year. Each December, after the calculations are deemed accurate and complete, the emission information is posted on this website.
This page includes various links to other emission inventories as well as tools to help individuals and sources calculate air emissions from most commercial and industrial activities. Please contact our emissions data specialist if you need assistance with your emission inventory.
