Business Info

Partners for clean air Business Recognition

The Northwest Clean Air Agency is proud to recognize businesses in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties that are working to reduce emissions and improve air quality in our communities.

Businesses can participate in the Partners for Clean Air business recognition program by submitting a Partners for Clean Air program application form to our agency. To receive recognition, businesses must meet the criteria below. Each award level builds on the one before it.

  • The facility has not received a notice of violation or correction action notice from NWCAA in the past three years.
  • All required reports are completed and submitted on time.
  • All fees are paid to NWCAA on time.

Businesses that meet the above criteria and submit their application form will receive a Partners for Clean Air – Silver window decal, and NWCAA will announce their award.

The business qualifies for Silver, plus it implemented clean air practices during the last three years in at least two of the following four pollution prevention categories:

  • Energy efficiency –lighting, heating/cooling, water heating, equipment, combustion
  • Emissions reductions - process changes, material substitution, etc.
  • Sector specific – air pollution prevention practices related to your specific business sector (gas stations, boilers, dry cleaners, surface coaters, etc.)
  • Transportation - trip reduction, no-idle policies, cleaner fleets, diesel retrofits, etc.

Businesses that meet the above criteria and submit an application form will receive a Partners for Clean Air – Gold window decal, and the Northwest Clean Air Agency will announce their award.

Businesses that qualify for Gold status can request to be considered for the Platinum award.

NWCAA staff awards Platinum to the business that has gone above and beyond regulatory requirements to improve air quality.

The business that wins this award will receive a Partners for Clean Air – Platinum window decal and a plaque presented at our Board of Directors meeting. NWCAA also will announce the award.
